Home Education Day 2026

Note From Erin,

Due to an unexpected family situation, I will need to step back from hosting Alabama Home Education Day in person this year.

This was not an easy decision, but it is the right one for my family at this time. I remain deeply committed to supporting homeschool families across Alabama and ensuring that you still have the information and access needed to participate meaningfully in the day.

***Because of this change, individual family guided tour reservations to the Capitol and Archives will be canceled. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes!!

Families are still welcome and encouraged to attend independently and explore:

• The Alabama Department of Archives & History
• Public, walk-in Capitol tours (as available)
• Self-guided exploration of open public areas

✨ The day is still happening!

Thanks to several wonderful leaders who have stepped up to be “boots on the ground,” key moments will continue as planned:

• Legislative shout-outs from the House and Senate viewing galleries (6th floor and 8th floor of the Alabama State House)
• Group photo at noon on the front steps of the Alabama Capitol (Dexter Avenue side)
• Lunch on the Capitol lawn (weather permitting)
• 2:00 PM – How a Bill Gets Made session

-In addition, the MOOseum and the First White House of the Confederacy are aware that homeschool families may be making the rounds and stopping by throughout the day.

There will not be a designated morning check-in location this year, but leadership will be present for scheduled moments listed above.

Thank you for your grace, flexibility, and continued support of Alabama homeschool families.
